Worth Remembering...
When ordering parts for your motorcycle it
helps to remember one or two things. Alongside the obvious things
like quoting the make, model and year of your bike, you need to be
sure that the parts you require are indeed for that year and model.
Don't assume that a complete bike bought for restoration (or for that
matter one already rebuilt) is going to be to original specification,
previous owners may have changed all sorts of items for a variety
of reasons. Control levers, handlebars, wheels, forks and suspension
units are favourites, not to mention complete engines, gearboxes and
clutches.
If for example you have a 1962 bike with a 1969 front wheel, don't
order brake parts for a 1962 model, they're sure to be different,
even though the wheels may be interchangeable. If you order the wrong
part, even unknowingly it can cause you unwanted hassle and a lot
of wasted time. If in doubt send a photograph or a good drawing quoting
any reference numbers on the parts. This way there is much less room
for error.

| Rob 5th March 01 | Although these points might seem obvious to established restorers, I found them very useful as a beginner, thanks spannerman.
